   Brookdale Elementary School had a very special guest at its recent Honors and Awards Ceremony, the Honorable Michael Butler.  Pastor Butler, Orangeburg’s first African-American mayor, spoke briefly but poignantly to students. He reminded students that they can do anything if they put their minds to it, and challenged them to follow in his footsteps by becoming trailblazers, themselves.  Afterwards, Mayor Butler poised for pictures with students as they were presented with awards.
